Curriculum

We break our instructions down into 4-week modules. The following are our existing modules, and we are constantly creating more. Most of our lessons include a competition, to encourage kids to be the best they can be:

  1. Introduction to Robotics–build your first robot and learn how to code
  2. Introduction to Coding–printing, compiling, typing, moving the robot
  3. Computer-aided Design (CAD)–2d objects, 3d objects, dimensions, creating useful objects
  4. Digital Logic in Minecraft–logic, binary, redstone automation, learning to combine video games and work
  5. Electronics & Sensors–circuits, LED, buttons, motors, resistors, transistors, logic gates, sensor data, coding

Club Details

  1. We have an online robotics club and onsite robotics clubs in the Florida Keys: Ramrod, Marathon, and Islamorada.
  2. Each session is 1.5 hours each week.
  3. We take off time in the summer.
  4. Online clubs are $30/wk and onsite clubs are $50/wk. We ask you to pay in 4-week increments. We provide all necessary information in an invoice to get a robotics scholarship, as most of our homeschool kids’ parents don’t pay out of their own pocket.
  5. Online clubs will need a computer. For the local Florida clubs, a computer is not necessary but preferred if you don’t want your child to share a computer with another child.
  6. We will communicate with your preferred method, and I will also give you my phone number. For the onsite Keys clubs, we will invite you to our Facebook Messenger group.

My Credentials

  1. I have a Bachelor and Master’s degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
  2. I have been offered $250K/yr as a robotics software engineer.
  3. I have taught over 20 children robotics and coding, and have 5 years of experience teaching middle schoolers.

FAQ

Our lessons are optimized for children aged 8-13, yet we also have some students who are 7 or 14. If you or your child does not have any engineering or coding experience, we believe our class would be great for them as well. We are open to making more advanced classes if the need arises.

Our classes range from 5-10 students.

If your child is more advanced than our curriculum, we consider private lessons on a case-by-case basis for $100/hr.

We are open to participating in FLL. Most parents aren’t interested in paying the extra money, and these competitions won’t teach you more than our existing curriculum, but it’s a fun way to get into robotics and coding. Your instructor was an FTC lead when he was in high school and won 2nd place, without any adult guidance.
