Senior Robotics Mentor

Read more about the Internship & Employment Program. We have had over 200 interns on this program and similar programs before it. We receive about 50 program visits per week, with about 5-10 specifically asking for internships on LinkedIn each week. The goal of the program is to teach post-grads, usually Indian F1 OPT students with Master’s degrees, how to work at their first job out of college. The secondary goal is to teach them how to job search. Because this is a remote internship, many engineers put in the required 30-40 hrs/wk; so, a large part of mentorship is performance reviews in growing soft skills, like dedication, honesty, proper communication, and reliability. For a lot of students, this is the first time they’ve learned to follow company rules, code software, meet shorter deadlines, and work in a team. We teach them the latest in robotics, what companies are looking for the most. The majority of the students learn about robotics software, such as Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Embedded, AI, ROS2, etc. Some learn about electronics and PCB Design. We are open to teaching about mechanical engineering: CAD, DfM, etc.

• Meet with your mentee twice per month, every other week, for 30m – 1h
• Create tasks for them to do that specifically grow their niche career path
• Follow a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for each student’s mentorship plan: tracking F1 info, career goals, payment log, company systems quiz, job search log, performance review plans, and more.
• Ensure they give written standup updates on their ClickUp tasks once per weekday, technically help them get unstuck, and notify your manager for any major issues.

• Mid to senior-level robotics experience in various subdisciplines, preferably 5 years each
• Preferably 8+ years of professional experience; 4 years required
• A Bachelors or Master’s degree is useful but not required
• Detail-oriented and organized; able to follow strict rules and SOPs thoroughly
• Familiar with project management tools, like ClickUp or Jira
• Can be consistently there for your mentor, at least 1 message per weekday
• Proficient in English
• Able to engage with diverse student backgrounds patiently and effectively

• You will be paid $75/mon per student. The number of students you choose to mentor is up to you.
• The average student needs about 30m – 1 hour/wk worth of work. If you mentor multiple students, the average time per student drops to a few minutes per day.
• When you join, our mentorship program may be temporarily closed, as we are always improving the system and hiring more people to join. If that is the case, you may not receive a student for 1-2 months.
• If interested, we have many ideas of how to scale this program; and, for those who mentor well for a year, you can join in a profit-sharing deal.
